Fees In These Times

A coach was asking about fees along these lines...

She said she had always been flexible with her fees but that now she was "flexing a lot".  She wondered if it was too much. She wondered if professionals who don't change their fees are right. She wondered if it is a mindset issue...

This is my take on this...


I would add another factor to consider: everybody is jumping online to market and sell.

So competing on price is an option but I don't think it's a very good one for people who offer their services.

This is what I think is a better option for people like us...

Let's unpack this...


To add value means to get people closer to the outcomes they desire. Adding value means helping people with what they want, not with what we want to sell.

And...

Adding value is not enough.

It's also necessary that they see for themselves how valuable it is to them.

Here is where we have to become great at communicating the value of what we do.

And there is still a more important ingredient...

They have to see the message.

Most messages are super valuable and super well communicated but...

They are INVISIBLE.

Positioning is the ingredient in this equation that makes a message visible.

How?

Positioning essentials - you and your message have to show up to be perceived as a valuable, relevant, credible resource for the people you can help. We all have bandwidth for what we perceive to be true resources to us.
