If you are a coach, consultant, trainer or independent service professional and want to boost your business with an online course, these are my favorite ways.

NOTE FIRST – The fastest and easiest way to grow a business is to create value with love. People exchange their money for value and they feel the love and care in whatever you offer. (So read these ideas that can spark other ideas perfect for your business from that starting point and not as “tactics”).

1. Your ads can be FREE

Let’s say that you use ads to promote a free gift and grow your email list. As soon as someone signs up, you offer them a course. Some people will take you on that offer and you can get the money you invested in the ads from the sale of your course.

TIP – After they sign up to your email list, you can offer a free consultation and some people can become clients. It’s the same idea if you are using ads to fill your webinar. As soon as they sign up, you offer them a course that doesn’t compete with the topic of your webinar. Some people will take you on that offer and it will pay for your ads to fill your webinar.



2. Your course can build your email list

You can offer a free course to build your email list.

TIP – Something that works for me when I do that is an email course. One daily email for five days, for example.
Another way is to turn your mini-course into an email challenge.


3. Your email list building can accelerate

A course can boost your audience building. You can offer your course for free for a limited time to grow your email community.

TIP – I like to offer a course for a limited time for a very low, silly price so I can build a list of people who are willing to invest in the transformation I provide in my business.

NOTE – Sometimes it is easier to offer a course at a silly price than for free. Yes, it’s becoming more difficult to give away things!



4. Your course can become a book

Based on your course, you can publish a book.



5. Your course can become a bonus for other offers

It can be your own offers or other offers you are promoting.



6. Your course can serve people who cannot afford to work with you privately

Nobody likes to leave people hanging when they cannot afford to be private clients. (Well, at least I don’t).

TIP – In that case, it’s wise that the topic of the course helps people get started.


7. Your course can become an upsell, a downsell or a cross-sell

Upsell example – Someone has just bought something from you and now you offer them your course as an upsell. For example, they buy a book and you offer them a course.

Downsell example – You offer a person who cannot afford to become a private client a course.

Cross-sell example – A person buys something from you and you offer them your course about a different topic (still in the same field). They buy, for example, a course on Fb ads and you offer them a course on email marketing. It’s all in the same field of business transformation but different topics.



8. A sale

Once or twice a year, you can hold a sale for your course.

TIP – It has to be a super limited time.


9. Get clients from your course

One of the easiest ways of doing that is to turn your course into a program that adds your personal support.

For example, I offer a program once every two or three years to write and publish your book. People can buy just the training or for a limited number of people, I also offer to do it with them, to help them write and publish their book.

TIP – There is a simple offer you can probably add to any of your courses: email coaching for an additional fee. Decide the number of people you can support and a period of time. You will be surprised to see that those spots tend to fill really fast.
